A bill before Indiana’s state legislature proposes a special designation for cities and towns that take a proactive approach to planning and coordinating services for aging residents.
Ellen W. Miller, executive director of UIndy’s Center for Aging & Community, wrote an opinion column for Sunday’s Indianapolis Star supporting the proposed “A Community for a Lifetime” legislation.
“The aging of Indiana’s population will affect nearly every sector of community life,” she wrote. “The time to plan for how to embrace aging in Indiana — our own, as well as our neighbors’ — is now.”
